Suzuki YBR125 Fuel Tank
This YBR125 tank was a unique challenge and not a job I would typically take on. Ideally, the best course of action for a tank in this condition would have been to walk away and recommend a full respray. The clear coat was incredibly thin, leaving the paint with minimal UV protection, and any further work risked compromising it further.
However, as a favour for a good friend who wanted to improve the appearance of his well-worn bike without spending much, I decided to head over and give it a go. With careful and deliberate effort, I worked with the little paint that was left, managing to tidy it up and give the tank a refreshed, smarter appearance.
While the finish is far from perfect, it’s a significant improvement, and to help preserve the remaining paint, I finished with a protective wax coating. This was truly a labour of love, and though not my usual work, it’s satisfying to know this old bike now looks a little sharper and ready for more miles.
